Unity Pulse — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Unity Pulse ("the app") is a staff application provided by Unity Edu for employees of schools that use the Unity Edu platform. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what your choices are. In this policy "we", "our" and "us" refer to Unity Edu.

Who can use the app

Unity Pulse is for school staff only. Accounts are created by your school administrator; the app does not offer public registration and is not intended for children.

What we collect

  • Name, email address and user ID — to sign you in and identify you to colleagues within your school.
  • Messages you send in the app — chat messages and task conversations, so they can be delivered to the people you send them to.
  • Photos — only when you choose to capture an ID card photo using the camera. The app does not access your photo gallery on its own.
  • Files you choose to share — when you share a file into the app from another app, so it can be attached to a conversation.
  • A push notification token — a per-device identifier used solely to deliver notifications about approvals, tasks and messages.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not share your data with third parties for advertising.
  • The app contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.
  • The app does not collect your location.

Where your data goes

Your data is stored on the Unity Edu server operated for your school. It is not shared with other organisations. Push notifications are delivered through Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which act as processors for that delivery only.

Security

All communication between the app and the server uses HTTPS. Access is restricted to signed-in staff, and permissions within the app follow the role your school assigns you.

Retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your staff account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting your school administrator, or by emailing us at the address below. Requests are actioned within 30 days.

Your choices

You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings. You can decline the camera permission; only the ID card feature will be unavailable.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date above.
